“Out with the old and in with the new!” As 2017 comes to an end and we look forward to a brand new year filled with unexplored opportunities, it is natural to look back and reflect on events that seemed to pass by like a flash. For The Antique Register, 2018 will mark our 20th year of publishing!

I recently spent some time reading through past issues noting the changes that have taken place over the years. For a number of reasons, some businesses are no longer open while others have ‘repurposed and renewed’ in keeping with today’s trends. It was very gratifying to see how many of our advertising shops are still in business and advertising with us!

It is always exciting to welcome new shops and events and share their information with our readers. We look forward to working with those new advertisers in 2018!

“Shop Local’ is often used to describe what were once called “Mom and Pop” stores. No matter the term used, it is important to remember that nearly all the shops, events and services that advertise in The Antique Register are small businesses owned by your neighbors and friends. When you “shop local,” you are helping your community’s economy. And you may make a new friend because we think we have the friendliest and most helpful shop owners ever!

Technology has played a major role in recent years changing the look and accessibility of The Antique Register. What started as a black and white publication really popped when color was added. And creating the website www.theantiqueregsiter.com, along with the popularity Facebook and other social media sites, has proven to be a huge convenience for both readers and advertisers. Not only is the paper now available online, additional information and updates are immediately available to our computers, cell phones and tablets. We are always looking to share and showcase our advertising shops, events and services so we encourage you to follow us online.

We want to thank our advertisers who, for twenty years, have brought The Antique Register to our readers each and every issue! Next time you visit an advertising shop or event let them know that you appreciate them and thank them for providing The Antique Register! They love to hear from you and so do we. Drop us a note or email us at antique@barlomedia.com.

Many people will look at their past New Year’s resolutions and use them as a benchmark for their next year. Whatever your traditions might be for ringing in the New Year, we hope that 2018 is a year of health and prosperity for all from The Antique Register!
