The Parlor is now open! On August 13, The Brass Armadillo® Antique Mall at 28th Avenue and Cactus in Phoenix introduced its new 2,100 square foot expansion featuring 35 new booths with merchandise from both new and current dealers. This is a wonderful example of turning a setback into a success since the new area has literally arisen from ashes!
In the early hours of June 25, 2017, the Mall suffered a two-alarm fire. One of the founders of the antique mall chain, Dave Briddle, recalls, “When it took three different fire departments to control the blaze, we had no idea what kind of damage we would find. We felt quite fortunate and thankful that the damage was primarily localized to a storage section on the north side of the building. Rather than repair the space to what it was, we decided this was a great opportunity to expand and we now celebrate the opening of The Parlor!”
The Brass Armadillo Antique Malls are a unique chain of six individual antique mall locations showcasing antique, collectible, vintage and repurposed merchandise from more than 3,500 antique dealers who create an enthusiastic atmosphere with promotions and events designed to draw collectors, shoppers, dealers and travelers.
The Mall first opened in North Phoenix in August 1996 and the 41,000 square foot mall now has more than 750 dealers selling antiques, furniture, décor, glassware, vintage items, primitives, retro chic and decorative pieces. On any given day, the mall showcases more than 1 million items. For dealers, The Brass Armadillo is the perfect way to expand an existing business or to get started. General Manager Jess Munoz said, “We take care of the administrative tasks so dealers can do what they do best…procure merchandise.”
In 2012, the company opened its second Valley location in Goodyear. This 55,000 square foot Phoenix West mall has over 600 dealers and is located in a shopping center on the corner of Dysart and McDowell with Dan Briddle as the General Manager.
Each mall has its own unique family atmosphere as dealers spend hours each week working their spaces and meeting with other dealers and shoppers. Their seating areas are great for making a new friend or catching up with old ones or to take a few minutes to rest while shopping. Shoppers’ hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and services include all the conveniences shoppers expect at any retail store, such as payment with personal checks as well as major credit cards, gift certificates, computerized receipts and other professional service.
